Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs in all aspects. New snow represents the main danger.

As a consequence of new snow and a strong to storm force northeasterly wind, sometimes large wind slabs will form by the evening in particular in places that are protected from the wind. In all aspects medium-sized slab avalanches are possible as a consequence of the snowfall. In particular on wind-loaded slopes the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack and reach large size in isolated cases.

Snowpack Structure

The old snowpack is largely stable. The new snow will be deposited on a quite favourable old snowpack in particular on shady slopes.
