Avalanche Activity

The wind will be light. As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase gradually.

Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on extremely steep slopes. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation mostly small moist and wet avalanches are possible, especially on steep sunny slopes. Even a small snow slide can sweep snow sport participants along and give rise to falls. More ground avalanches are possible, even medium-sized ones.

Snowpack Structure

Less snow than usual is lying, especially on steep southeast, south and southwest facing slopes below approximately 2600 m. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. As a consequence of rising temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack, in particular on very steep sunny slopes. Intermediate and high altitudes, steep shady slopes: Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
