As a consequence of the snowfall the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent in the late morning. The avalanches can release the moist old snow as well and reach very large size. This applies in particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The fresh snow and the wind slabs can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant,. Up to 2200 m rain will fall from late morning over a wide area. As the moisture increases large moist and wet avalanches are to be expected, in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Wet avalanches can reach a long way in particular in steep gullies. The conditions are critical for backcountry touring and snowshoe hiking.
