Avalanche Activity

In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation above approximately 2100 m danger level 2 (moderate) will be reached.

Above approximately 1500 m snow will fall until the afternoon. The fresh snow of the last two days and in particular the mostly small wind slabs can be released in isolated cases, in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas in particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation this applies in particular on very steep slopes. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow will be deposited on bare ground over a wide area. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. This applies in particular on shady slopes and at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The old snowpack remains generally stable.
