Snow that fell in October exists above an elevation of 9,000 feet. Due to an extended thermal inversion, temperatures in the mountains have been above freezing since November 1. This old snow is patchy, damp or wet and up to a foot deep. Avalanches are unlikely. Ground surfaces are mostly bare on all aspects below an elevation of 8,500 feet and on solar aspects up to an elevation of 10,500 feet.
