Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight rain, then dry until late morning when there will be a trace of sleet or wet snow above 1100 metres for a couple of hours. Precipitation will turn to rain at all levels during the afternoon. Fresh South-West winds overnight, backing South-South-Westerly during the day and touching gale force on the highest summits. 1600 metres freezing level overnight, lowering to 1100 metres by mid-morning. Climbing back up to 1400 metres during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A mild and damp day with fresh to strong South, veering South-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The generally well bonded snowpack is thawing at all levels, with soft, wet surface layers. Greatest cover is present on South-West through North-West to North-East aspects above 800 metres. Remaining cornices are at risk of collapse due to prolonged thaw conditions. Risk of rock and ice fall on the steepest terrain. The avalanche hazard is Low.
