Colder temperatures and new snow will help reduce the wet avalanche issues. Steep north-facing slopes still pose a threat of triggering an avalanche on buried weak layers or in areas where the new snow has drifted into thicker slabs.

However, if you find yourself punching through a hard crust into wet snow grains below, consider sticking to lower angle slopes. It may take a couple of nights of cold temperatures to penetrate a deeper freeze into the lower layers of the snowpack.
