Avalanche Summary

It is hard to affect deeply buried weak layers and trigger an avalanche. You can further reduce your risk by avoiding shallow slopes with many exposed rocks. Small pockets of wind-drifted snow could knock you off your feet in steep terrain. Avoid these small, rounded areas of firm snow.
