Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on steep slopes where you find more than about eight inches of new snow. Higher elevation slopes facing north, northeast, and east, where early-season snow remains as a weak layer near the ground, are where you are most likely to find strong-over-weak layering where you can more easily trigger an avalanche. Stick to slopes less than about 30 degrees steepness with no steep slopes above for safer options.
