The General Avalanche Hazard at all elevations is MODERATE. Five to six inches of new snow fell with a cooling trend and should be well bonded to underlying snow, however, strong winds have created soft slabs to a foot in depth on lee slopes in higher cross loaded areas and under ridges. At Low elevations rain has continued to soak and weaken the warm snow. Easily triggered or natural slides continue to be released in several areas. The dangerous, heavy slides are likely on any steep area including road cuts, ravines or even small hills. Stay away from those areas where small amounts of debris set up instantly. Be alert driving in the canyons for debris blocking the road.

A large upper level low-pressure system will continue spinning over central Wyoming this evening with alternating bands of moist and dry air, bringing intermittent periods of snow and rain showers to the area. A drying trend will continue tonight as the system moves slowly east. A weak high pressure will build over the area late tonight and into tomorrow resulting in decreasing clouds and warmer temperatures. Overnight lows will be near 20 in the mountains, and mid 20s in the valley, before rising into the upper 30s in the mountains, and warm to the upper 40s in the valley. Ridge top winds will be in the teens out of the Northwest.AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:Tomorrow morning the general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the upper elevation, and LOW below 9,000 feet, rising to MODERATE at all elevations with daily warming. Below freezing overnight temperatures will temporarily stabilize the snow pack. In the mountains, pockets of slab could be triggered in wind loaded starting zones. As temperatures rise, along with some sunshine, wet slide activity will increase throughout the day. As the day progresses, this trend will start at the lower elevations, rise through mid elevation, and impact the upper elevation on sunlit aspects. Wet slide activity starting in the new snow may dig into older rotten snow, entraining large volumes of snow.
