Avalanche Summary
Most slopes are safe from avalanches. The few areas where you might be able to trigger a small avalanche are on wind-loaded slopes just below ridgelines. If you see cracking in the snow or hear a hard, hollow sound when traveling across a slope you are likely on wind-loaded terrain. Avoid traveling on steep, wind-loaded slopes above terrain traps such as a creek or a cliff, where even a small avalanche can be dangerous.
