LO for 9/1/22. Unstable windslab mainly on North to East aspects above 900m. Cornices above these aspects. Considerable hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will add to existing deposits with greatest accumulations on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Fragile cornices will be present above these aspects. Slopes exposed to the wind will be generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Moderate South-West winds will slowly back to become Easterly and ease through the period. Snow showers overnight and in the morning. Freezing level around 600 metres rising to 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Showers and a moderate South-West wind. The freezing level rose to around 1100 metres this morning and then slowly dropped through the day. ObservedSnowStability: Areas of unstable windslab are present mainly on North to East aspects above 1100 metres; at lower elevations on these aspects some consolidation has helped improve stability but weaknesses persist at depth. Fragile cornices are present above these aspects. Aspects exposed to the wind are generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
