LO for 19/2/22. Unstable windslab mainly on N-E-SE aspects above 800m where avalanches are likely. Cornices! Considerable hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Fresh unstable windslab will persist and continue to accumulate overnight mainly on on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres where avalanches are likely. Fragile cornices will be present mainly above these aspects. At lower elevations on these aspects the windslab will be moderately bonded. Localised windslab accumulations will also be present on all other aspects above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Moderate North-West winds back South-West by dawn, then becoming lighter and backing to the South-South-East during the day. Snow showers overnight followed by a mainly dry day. The freezing level will be around 350 metres overnight, rising to 500 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Moderate South-East winds this morning backed through East and North to become West-North-Westerly this afternoon. Snow showers in the morning. Freezing level around 350 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Poorly bonded windslab is present on all aspects with greatest accumulations on North-West through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. On other aspects the windslab is more localised. Fragile cornices are present above steep slopes on many aspects. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
