The overall avalanche danger remains generally LOW on the Skyline today.

There are lots of fresh drifts scattered about although they seem to be stable. If you want to be sure about staying out of trouble, avoid these drifts on steep slopes.

    Drifts and slabs that formed during the recent storm is the only threat out there today and it seems to be a pretty minor threat. On Sunday I molested numerous drifts on steep slopes and none of them cracked or moved. Things seem stable but if you want to be double sure you don't trigger something, simply avoid the drifts on any steep slope.

Snow and Weather

Current Conditions: I traveled up Ephraim Canyon on Sunday to confirm snow depths from the last storm. GBRC Meadows showed 12" of new snow but, as I suspected, it was drifted in deeper than other stations. There's about 5 to 6 inches of new snow but it varies in depth due to the wind during the storm. Temperatures remained cold on Sunday and the snow stayed cold. I personally thought riding conditions were mediocre at best. It was pretty chunky under the little bit of new snow. There was moderate speed wind from the northwest. It has really slowed down this morning. Overnight temperatures were in the mid teens.

Mountain Weather: We'll have mostly clear skies today with temperatures in the upper 20s and light wind from the north. High pressure moves in Tuesday with clear skies and a warming trend through the week. The next chance for snow is about a week away.
