Points saillants

The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW this morning as below freezing overnight temperatures have hardened the snow surface and avalanches are unlikely. The hazard will quickly rise to MODERATE by this afternoon as sunlight and rapidly increasing temperatures weaken the surface crust and increase the possibility for human and naturally triggered wet loose and wet slab avalanche activity.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )As the recent trough exists partial clearing and overnight temperatures well below freezing are expected at all elevations. Friday looks to be partly to mostly cloudy before another weak system enters the area by Saturday. AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The General Avalanche Hazard tomorrow is expected to be LOW at all elevations in the morning and increase to MODERATE in the afternoon as increasing temperatures and sunlight weaken the snow surface and provide for the possibility of wet slides.
