Points saillants

Above an elevation of 8000 feet the general avalanche hazard is Moderate. In steep avalanche-prone terrain, the chance continues for riders and skiers to trigger slab avalanches. These slabs could be soft with depths to two feet or in large, wind-loaded terrain features the slabs could be hard, with depths to four feet. New snow could also be triggered in steep terrain as sloughs or as very shallow soft slabs. Avalanches below 8000 feet are unlikely in the shallow snowpack.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Weak west flow will provide periods of light snow as moisture passes to the south of the area. Accumulations will be light. Temperatures will rise into the mid twenties and west winds are to have averages of five to ten miles per hour. The general avalanche will be Moderate. In isolated areas the chance continues for large triggers to initiate hard slab avalanches to depths of four feet. In very steep terrain backcountry travelers could also trigger new snow sluffs or possibly shallow soft slabs along high exposed ridges.
