Points saillants

At the upper elevations dense slabs one to three feet in depth exist in steep wind loaded starting zones. At mid elevations these surface slabs lie to two feet in depth. Pockets of these slabs could be triggered today by backcountry users on steep avalanche terrain and not necessarily by the first person on the slope. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations except in isolated pockets. The fourth avalanche fatality in Wyoming occurred yesterday in the Togwotee Pass area when two snowmobilers were caught in a slide.
