Points saillants
The general avalanche hazard will increase to CONSIDERABLE today. West winds will form new soft slabs up to two feet in depth. These surface slabs could release naturally and will be easily triggered in steep wind loaded terrain. Loose snow sluffs will also be a hazard on steep slopes not affected by wind deposition. Some potential exist for these slabs to step down to deeper layers in steep rocky areas with a thinner snowpack and in very steep wind loaded starting zones of major avalanche paths.
