Points saillants

One foot of new snow and strong southwest winds from Saturday continue to cause an unstable snowpack. Slabs up to three feet in depth have been and could be human triggered on steep, wind loaded aspects at the mid and upper elevations. Weak surface hoar underlies the new snow on all aspects making travel in avalanche terrain not recommended. A second avalanche fatality this season occurred Saturday in a Northeast facing bowl just south of Teton Pass. At the lower elevations avalanches are unlikely.
