Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE above an elevation of 9,000 feet. Friday's strong southwest to northwest winds and new snow increased the load on areas of unstable snow. Humans who venture into steep avalanche prone terrain could trigger slab avalanches up to two feet deep. Below an elevation of 9,000 feet the snowpack is mostly stable and the general avalanche hazard is LOW.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A cold high pressure ridge will keep conditions dry. On Sunday skies will be partly cloudy. Temperatures will be near 10 degrees in the morning and will rise into the upper 20s to low 30s. Winds will back towards the southwest and increase to 20 miles per hour by evening. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the upper elevations (9,000 to 10,500 feet). Humans who venture into very steep avalanche starting zones or cliff areas could trigger slab avalanches up to two feet in depth. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and lower elevations where the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW.
