Points saillants
The general avalanche danger is MODERATE today. Recent snowfall and strong winds have increased the chance of riders or skiers releasing avalanches on lee slopes at upper elevations. High marking riders should be especially aware as steep slopes may release even after they have been traversed many times. Once started slides have the potential to tear out deeper, rotten snow. Yet more people have been caught in slides in the Tetons over the last few days. Self rescue skills and equipment are essential for safe travel in avalanche prone terrain.
