Avalanche Summary
The dusting of new snow does not increase the danger of avalanches. You might be able to trigger an avalanche where pockets of wind-drifted snow exist in gullies and below ridgelines above treeline. Wind drifts look pillowy or lens-shaped and can sound hollow underneath you. If you experience cracking or collapsing in wind-stiffened snow, seek safer travel on lower-elevation wind-sheltered slopes.
