Avalanche Activity

The new snow represents the main danger.

The new snow will be deposited on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack. The fresh snow and the resulting small wind slabs represent the main danger. In the regions exposed to precipitation and at the base of rock walls loose snow avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow is lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack. New snow is lying mostly on a hard crust.
