Forecast Snow Stability: Much of the snowpack will be soft and moist with generally good stability but marginally bonded areas of deep unconsolidated snow will persist in sheltered areas. Summit gullies and steeper scarp slopes above 850 metres with a North-West through North to Easterly aspect will be most affected. Fragile cornices above these aspects will be prone to collapse, particularly with rising day time temperatures and solar radiation. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Light snow showers on Thursday evening will affect slopes above 900 metres. These will die out with a return to dry, clear and sunny conditions. Winds will initially be Moderate increasing to fresh, generally from the South-Easterly quarter. The freezing level overnight will be around 1000 metres rising to 1400 metres by the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: New snow fell overnight above 700 metres giving a light general cover. It has been mainly dry and milder today. Winds have become light to moderate Southerly. The freezing level is now hovering around the higher summits. ObservedSnowStability: Marginally bonded areas of deep unconsolidated snow exist on the steepest slopes and gullies. These accumulations are greatest in summit gullies and around corrie headwalls with a North-West through North to Easterly aspect. Weakly bonded cornices exist above some of these areas. In most other locations the snowpack is generally stable and is becoming moist with rising day time temperatures. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
