Wind slabs and wet snow represent the main danger.

Over a wide area 10 to 15 cm of snow will fall on Wednesday above approximately 1800 m. As a consequence of a strong wind from westerly directions, wind slabs formed at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs can be released even by a single winter sport participant in particular on extremely steep north, east and south facing slopes. In particular in high Alpine regions these avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. More wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses below approximately 2200 m.

10 to 20 cm of snow has fallen since Monday above approximately 2500 m. In all altitude zones only a little snow is now lying. The snowpack is largely stable. The rain gave rise to rapid and thorough wetting of the snowpack over a wide area below approximately 2400 m. And a rapid settlement of the snowpack below about 2500 m

The danger of moist and wet avalanches will decrease quickly.
