Forecast Snow Stability: The vast majority of the snowpack will be well bonded and stable. Localised accumulations of moderately well bonded snow will be encountered in a few steeper, wind sheltered locations on North-East to South-East aspects above 1000 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: No precipitation has been forecast. Storm force Southerly winds, easing slightly overnight, before increasing to gale force by the end of the afternoon. Freezing level lowering to around 650 metres by morning, gradually rising to 900 metres later. Observed Weather Influences: Precipitation, falling as very light snow above 900 metres. Gale force South-South-Westerly winds. Freezing level rising to around 1000 metres. ObservedSnowStability: A thaw is occurring at lower elevations with the majority of snow becoming wet but generally stable. In steeper, wind sheltered locations on North through East to South aspects above 1000 metres localised areas of moderately bonded windslab persist. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
