Stability: very poor · Frequency: few
The danger of wet and gliding avalanches will already exist in the early morning.
The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will already be soft in the early morning, in the event of an overcast night, also at intermediate and high altitudes. In the late morning the natural activity of moist and wet avalanches will rapidly increase. At low and intermediate altitudes and on very steep grassy slopes medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible as the penetration by moisture increases. The wet fresh snow and the small wind slabs formed during the snowfall can be released by a single winter sport participant. Naturally triggered avalanches and penetration of the old snow cover indicate the existence of a weak snowack. Backcountry tours and ascents to alpine cabins should be started and concluded very early.
5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell in the last two days above approximately 2000 m. The sleet gave rise on Tuesday to extreme moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2200 m. In some places relatively hard layers of snow are lying on a wet old snowpack.
The weather will be very mild. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust only at high altitudes and will soften quickly. The spring-like weather conditions from the late morning will give rise to a loss of strength within the snowpack over a wide area.
