The danger of moist and wet avalanches will already increase in the late morning.
The high temperatures in the late morning will give rise to a loss of strength within the snowpack on sunny slopes at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. This situation will give rise to extreme and thorough wetting of the snowpack over a wide area in all aspects at low and intermediate altitudes. Naturally triggered avalanches and penetration of the old snow cover show the existence of a weak snowack. In particular on very steep slopes and in steep rocky terrain more small and medium-sized gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. High altitudes and the high Alpine regions: The near-surface layers of the snowpack can be released in isolated cases by individual winter sport participants. Backcountry tours should be concluded timely.
Over a wide area 40 to 60 cm of snow fell on Monday above approximately 2000 m. The new snow of Monday has settled to a large extent. Below approximately 3000 m: The snowpack is moist and its surface has a melt-freeze crust. The surface of the snowpack will already soften in the late morning. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to rapid moistening of the snowpack. This applies in particular on steep sunny slopes at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions, and in all aspects at low and intermediate altitudes. Below approximately 2400 m only a little snow is lying on south facing slopes.
