Snowpack Structure

Since Friday the weather has been exceptionally warm. The surface of the snowpack cooled hardly at all during the overcast night. The rain will give rise as the day progresses to rapid moistening of the snowpack in all altitude zones.

Avalanche Activity

Up to high altitudes rain will fall. Moist loose snow slides and gliding avalanches are still possible.

As a consequence of the rain moist and wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses, even medium-sized ones. In particular in extremely steep terrain moist avalanches can slide on the ground. Individual gliding avalanches can also be released in the night or in the morning. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided.
