Avalanche Activity

Significant increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day.

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist and wet avalanches are to be expected as the day progresses. In particular on very steep sunny slopes moist avalanches can penetrate even deep layers and reach large size. Backcountry tours and off-piste skiing should be started and concluded very early.

Snowpack Structure

Above approximately 2000 m there is still a very large amount of snow. The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will soften earlier than the day before. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to rapid moistening of the snowpack over a wide area below approximately 3000 m.
