    Small loose wet avalanches will be possible out of steep and confined areas with warm temps forecast.

    Climbers should be ready to protect these areas if they encounter wet and heavy snow,

    Small pockets of windslab are likely to form around terrain features overnight.

    If travelling overnight avoid steep/extreme terrain during the peak intensity (6pm - 12am)

Recent Avalanche Activity

A small loose wet out of steep and sunny terrain on Wednesday afternoon.

Current Snowpack Conditions

Little change to the snowpack in the past 24 hours. Surface conditions are extremely variable after recent high winds and solar effect.

Steep/sunny slopes as well as windward (W/SW) are firm with a crust.

In the shade and lower angle/sheltered gullies cold snow still exists with active faceting occurring near the surface. This is "drying" the snow surface and increasing ski quality.

The lower snow pack is generally well consolidated.

Mountain Weather

During the day - Mostly fine. Warm temps and Moderate N winds. FAFL 2000 dropping to 1700.

Overnight - Cloud and snow developing.

Sliding Danger

Areas exposed to sun and wind have become firm. Utilising an ice axe and/or crampons is a good idea and exercise caution in exposed areas.

Forecast Confidence

  • We are uncertain about forecast precipitation amounts.
  • We are uncertain whether the wind will be enough to form new wind slabs.
