Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is Moderate above 7,500 feet and Low below 7,500 feet this morning, rising to Moderate at all elevations in the afternoon. At the mid and upper elevations, backcountry travelers could trigger soft slabs and loose snow sluffs one to two feet in depth in very steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain. Daytime warming and extended periods of sunshine will make these slides more susceptible to failure as the day progresses. Yesterday, similar slides were released naturally and by skiers. At the lower elevations, shallow wet slide activity could become possible in the afternoon.
