Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche from the bottom of a slope or from a distance. Observers in neighboring ranges are reporting remotely triggered or natural avalanches, as well as a sensitive snowpack that collapses in open and drifted areas. Over 30 inches of snow in the last week, and a weak snowpack base suggests the same is true in this area. Shady aspects with wind-drifting slopes pose the greatest danger. You can find safer travel on slopes without a buried weak layer, where you do not find a slab, or on slopes less than about 30 degrees.
