Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs require caution.

The fresh and older wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in particular on west to north to east facing aspects above approximately 2200 m. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines. Avalanches can reach medium size. More frequent small to medium-sized loose snow avalanches are to be expected, in the event of prolonged bright spells especially. In addition very occasional medium-sized gliding avalanches are possible. This applies on steep grassy slopes below approximately 2600 m. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided.

Snowpack Structure

10 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell on Sunday. 20 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall on Monday. The wind will be moderate. The more recent wind slabs are lying on soft layers at elevated altitudes.

Tendency

The weather conditions will give rise to increasing settling of the snowpack.
