Moab

The snow is starting to pile up in the La Sals thanks to a series of warm and wet November storms. We have plenty of snow to ski around on summer roads and shakedown your winter equipment. There is 10" of settled snow at 10,000' and 16" in the upper elevations. This is not quite enough for skiing or riding, but it's a good start. Regular avalanche forecasting will begin when we get more snow.

Snowpack and Weather Data

We may see some flakes fly in the mountains on Sunday with light accumulations. Sunny skies prevail for Thanksgiving week. Our next chance for real snow comes at the end of the month.

16" of right side up snow and rounds to the ground! It's a good start. We'll be monitoring our shallow early-season snowpack as it evolves. We have our sights set on the next weather event, which is expected around 11/30.

• Check out the UAC's education progression HERE
• Get your avalanche rescue gear ready for winter. Put fresh batteries in your transceiver and update the firmware. Inspect your shovel and probe. Get your airbag backpack ready by possibly doing a test deployment and updating the firmware if it is an electric version or getting your canister refilled if it's not electronic.
