All the signs are present. A buried Persistent Weak Layer of loose sugary faceted snow exists. Dig down a foot or two with your hand and you'll easily find it. Cracking and collapsing of the snowpack is a daily occurance while traveling through the snow. There have been small natural avalanches and then the more significant slide I described above. It all spells out avalanche danger. Things are going to get worse before they get better.
