Avalanche Activity

Snow is scarce, creep may occur in places

On the steepest slopes, a small creep of new snow can be triggered. A small avalanche of dry, packed snow can be triggered when snow drifts are loaded on steep slopes. Even small avalanches can cause a loss of balance and a fall into an abyss.

Snowpack Structure

Snow is scarce in the mountains. By Friday evening, 20-30 cm of new dry snow will have fallen with light to moderate north-easterly winds. Smaller snow drifts are forming close to the ridges.

Weather Forecast

The weather forecast for the mountain world is available at: https://meteo.arso.gov.si/uploads/probase/www/sproduct/mountain/

Tendency

During the night and day on Saturday, a stronger northeasterly wind will carry snow and build up large snow drifts. Avalanche probability will therefore be higher on Saturday than on Friday.
