Forecast Snow Stability: Large areas of unstable snow will remain with greatest accumulations being on steep North, North-East and East aspects above 900 metres. Cornices will become increasingly unstable during the day. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will be generally dry with moderate to strong summit winds. The freezing level will rise above the summits during Friday afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Strong South-Westerly winds and frequent snow showers with the freezing level fluctuating between 800 metres and 1100 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh areas of unstable windslab have formed in sheltered locations. Greatest accumulations are on steep North, North-East and East aspects above 900 metres. Avalanche activity observed in some of the main Ben Nevis gullies. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
