Dangerous avalanche conditions exist. You can easily trigger an avalanche where you find over a foot of new snow on slopes facing northwest through north to east. While most of the avalanches you trigger may be small, they can still take you for a dangerous ride, and on certain slopes, they can grow large enough to bury you. The most dangerous slopes are where you find additional wind-drifted snow near and above treeline facing east and northeast. You can decrease your chances of triggering an avalanche by sticking to slopes that have a thick, supportable crust underneath the new snow and avoiding any steep slopes where you find over a foot of new snow. You can always keep it simple and find safer travel options by sticking to slopes less than about 30 degrees steep without steep slopes above you.
