Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche where strong winds form cohesive slabs over weak layers. Avalanches will be larger and more dangerous on slopes that face north to northeast through east, where old wind drifts are deepest. Avoid shallow trigger points like buried rocks or trees, convex rollovers, or the edges of slopes where the slab is the thinnest. Also, bypass travel on hard, hollow-sounding snow on steep slopes. You can find safer travel on slopes less than about 35 degrees in steepness.

Strong wind and new snow will increase avalanche danger Friday and into the weekend.
