Points saillants

The snowpack is mostly stable. No new avalanche activity is known to have occurred since Friday, however some potential may persist in isolated areas for snowmachines or cornice drops to trigger hard slab avalanches on a persistent weak layer.

    Probabilité

    Taille
    1–2

In isolated areas at the mid and upper elevations hard slabs lie upon faceted snow and hard crusts, which formed in January. Limited potential may remain for humans, especially those on snowmachines, to trigger a hard slab avalanche up to two feet in depth in steep terrain.

Avalanche Discussion

Expect mostly clear skies on Wednesday as high pressure moves into the region from the west. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the low teens before rising into the mid to upper 20s during the day. Westerly to northwesterly ridgetop winds will range from 10 to 20 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Wednesday. Mostly stable snow exists, and avalanches are unlikely except in isolated areas.
