Avalanche Summary
Most slopes are safe from avalanches. However, on very steep, shady slopes, you might be able to trigger a small loose avalanche. Although small, they can still knock you off your feet and drag you down a slope. If your feet, skis, or machine is sinking deep into the snow and almost to the ground, consider avoiding travel on slopes steeper than about 40 degrees, where these conditions are most common.
