Avalanche Summary

A Special Avalanche Advisory is in effect for Pikes Peak, the Sangre de Cristo Range, and southeastern San Juan Mountains. Avalanche conditions will be dangerous on Thursday as the concern rapidly changes from dry to wet avalanches.

Avoid steep slopes in terrain where you find more than around 12 inches of recent snow accumulates. Winds during the storm left a patchwork of drifted snow in unusual places. Expect fast changes in avalanche conditions as the day warms. Wet avalanche concerns grow on most sun-exposed slopes.
