In the morning the general avalanche hazard is LOW at all elevations as a stable snowpack exists and the avalanche hazard is limited to shallow isolated pockets of surface slabs at the high elevations where crusts have not formed. In the early afternoon, the delayed arrival of the next storm system is expected to result in prolonged sun and warming that may provide the possibility for wet loose and wet slab activity, particularly at the lowest elevations where the weakest snow pack exists and at mid elevations in the recently recieved snow.

Snow is expected to fall tonight and into the first part of Saturday with lingering mountain snow showers Saturday afternoon. With the warm temperatures at low elevations this storm may begin with a rain/snow mix in the valleys until strong Southwesterly winds bring in slightly cooler air.AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The avalanche hazard is expected to remain LOW at low and mid elevations where little snow is forecast and may or may not raise to MODERATE at high elevations depending on the snowfall amounts and winds received by Saturday morning.Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
