LO for 22/12. Fresh windslab developing mainly on steep and sheltered NE, E and SE aspects above 900m.

Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of unstable windslab will develop in areas sheltered from the Westerly winds. Greatest accumulations will be on steep North-East, East and South-East aspects above 900 metres. This windslab will increase in distribution as the period progresses. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The strong Westerly airflow will continue with frequent snow showers above 700 metres. Observed Weather Influences: After a mild and wet night, the freezing level has dropped to around 900 metres with snow showers. Storm force Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: Last night\'s thaw has consolidated the existing snowpack. Fresh areas of windslab have started to build during the day mainly on sheltered East and South-East aspects although accumulations are generally not significant or extensive in area. The avalanche hazard is Low.
