Snowpack Structure

5 to 10 cm of snow has fallen since Saturday above approximately 1000 m. Over a wide area new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. Faceted weak layers exist deeper in the old snowpack on shady slopes.

Avalanche Activity

Individual avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on very steep slopes above approximately 2300 m.

Some fresh snow and in particular the wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, in particular on steep shady slopes at intermediate and high altitudes. The avalanches can in isolated cases reach medium size. The wind slabs are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility. Careful route selection and spacing between individuals are recommended.
