As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind, wind slabs will form especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The new snow and wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases above approximately 2000 m. The avalanche prone locations are to be found especially in steep terrain and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. Avalanches can in isolated cases be triggered in the old snowpack and reach large size in isolated cases. This applies in particular in case of a large load.

The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. In particular on sunny slopes as well as at low and intermediate altitudes from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
