Problèmes avalancheux

  • Wind slab

    • Above 1,800 m

Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs represent the main danger.

The wind slabs can be released in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 1800 m. Especially in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and at the base of rock walls small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches are possible. The avalanche prone locations are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of new snow and a moderate wind, wind slabs formed in some places. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas above approximately 1800 m. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust.

Tendency

The wind will be strong. The weather will be cold.
