Points saillants

Cooler overnight temperatures will create a melt freeze crust from the alpine to treeline. The hazard is reduced while this crust is intact. Warm temperatures, sun exposure and precipitation in the form of rain will increase the hazard rapidly.

Problèmes avalancheux

    • Sous la limite forestière
    Probabilité
    Possible - Likely

The freezing level will drop below treeline Thursday with rain turning to snow overnight. Expect continued unstable isothermal conditions below treeline, possibly extending to treeline as temperatures increase during the day.
  • Deep Persistent Slabs

    • Alpin
    • Limite forestière
    • Sous la limite forestière
    Probabilité
    Possible
    Taille
    2–3
Large triggers such as cornice failure could release large slab avalanches on several deep failure planes including ground, especially on steep slopes with a smooth rock slab bed surface.
