Points saillants

Wind slab avalanches in the alpine are a concern on both NE and SW aspects due to changing wind directions.

Problèmes avalancheux

  • Wind Slabs

    • Alpin
    • Limite forestière
    • Sous la limite forestière
    Probabilité
    Likely - Very Likely
    Taille
    2–3
Slab avalanches to size 2 were observed on north aspects below corniced ridge lines. On Saturday, winds shifted to the NE, reverse loading SW slopes which likely have a well developed sun crust.
  • Loose Wet

    • Alpin
    • Limite forestière
    • Sous la limite forestière
    Probabilité
    Likely
    Taille
    1–2
Widespread wet avalanche activity up to size 2 has been observed through out the forecast area. Rain saturated snow at lower elevations is failing at the ground. Pay close attention to freezing level elevations.
  • Deep Persistent Slabs

    • Alpin
    • Limite forestière
    • Sous la limite forestière
    Probabilité
    Possible
    Taille
    2–4
Avalanches to size 2 have been observed on this layer on NE aspects initiated by small loose snow avalanches. These deeper layers can wake up unexpectedly on all aspects.
